Zuni Signed Native American S.S & Malachite Bypass Ring

This lovely Authentic Zuni Native American bypass ring features sterling silver and three dog tooth set malachite cabochons. Marked H M Coonsis for Harlan Coonsis. Harlan Coonsis began formally designing in 1974 but learned to create as a boy at his Grandfathers knee in the 1960's. When asked in an interview to recall making his first jewelry he said "I would make a single stone ring and sell it to the Vanderwagens for 1.50. They would let you chose between taking the cash or a due bill. We would always take the cash and get things in the Vanderwagen store. It was alot of money back then." (-Harlan Coonsis) This piece is adjustable within reason (size 6 to 8). Worn in picture on size 7.5 finger. This ring would fit the bill to be an early Coonsis piece, possibly dating as early as the 1960's. In nice vintage condition with patina commensurate to its age.
