Camille Pissarro, inspired by the landscapes of Camille Corot and the Barbizon group at the World's Fair, embraced landscape painting. He studied at prestigious institutions, meeting fellow artists like Claude Monet, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Alfred Sisley, and Paul Cézanne, who together pioneered Impressionism. Pissarro's works were occasionally exhibited at the Salon, and he received critical support from Émile Zola. During the Franco-Prussian War, he and Monet moved to London, influenced by John Constable and J.M.W. Turner. Upon returning, Pissarro found his paintings destroyed. After Salon rejections, he and colleagues held independent exhibitions, with Pissarro participating in all eight from 1874 to 1886. Known as the patriarch of Impressionism, he received international recognition in 1892 and died in Paris on November 12, 1903.
