It has a US Navy mark, so I believe it was used by the US Navy. (I can't say for sure, so please let me know if you have more information.)
It's a matching transformer, but I think it can be used as an Ortofon transformer. However, the step-up ratio is probably low, so I'm looking for someone who can build their own amplifier to purchase it.
American military transformers are reputed to have powerful sound and good resolution.
