From September 1968 to February 1969, Miles, no longer with his golden quintet, was pursuing a new sound, adding Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul, Dave Holland, and Jack DeJohnette. The results were visibly realized in "Bitches Brew," but this work is a realistic document that records how Miles and his crew were exploring a new sound the night before. What is particularly interesting is that you can listen to the rehearsal takes from the 1969 "In A Silent Way" sessions, which makes you feel like you've taken a step closer to the genius's true face.
